Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize custom 2D rendering pipelines for high-performance game engines (Unity/Unreal).
- Author complex 2D shaders and effects to enhance visual fidelity and art direction.
- Create and maintain internal tools to streamline asset workflows and improve artist productivity.
- Collaborate closely with concept artists, animators, and programmers to resolve technical art challenges.
- Conduct technical research on emerging 2D rendering techniques and implement them into production.
- Manage asset libraries and ensure optimal memory usage for 2D sprites and textures.
- Mentor junior technical artists and provide code reviews for art-related scripts.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game industry, with a strong focus on 2D.
- Deep proficiency in Unity or Unreal Engine 5 and their 2D rendering capabilities.
- Expert knowledge of shading languages (HLSL/GLSL) and shader authoring tools.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, MEL, or Blueprints.
- Strong understanding of color theory, compositing, and pixel-perfect art direction.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize large texture atlases and sprite sheets for mobile and console platforms.
