Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for optimization, simulation, and machine learning applications
- Develop error correction protocols and quantum software frameworks for near-term devices
- Collaborate with hardware teams to optimize quantum circuit performance on superconducting and photonic platforms
- Lead quantum machine learning projects integrating classical AI with quantum acceleration
- Publish high-impact research in Nature/Science journals and present at QIP/APS conferences
- Secure external funding through NSF/DOE grants and industry partnerships
- Mentor postdoctoral researchers and guide PhD thesis projects
Qualifications
- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Quantum Information Science with 3+ years research experience
- Proficiency in quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane) and classical languages (Python, C++)
- Deep understanding of quantum mechanics, quantum error correction, and many-body systems
- Publication record in top-tier quantum computing or machine learning venues
- Experience with cloud quantum platforms (IBM Quantum, Amazon Braket) or simulators (Qutip, QuTiP)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex mathematical concepts into practical implementations
- Excellent written communication for technical documentation and grant proposals
