Responsibilities
- Design and implement quantum algorithms for optimization and machine learning applications
- Conduct experimental research on superconducting qubits and quantum error correction
- Develop novel quantum hardware architectures operating at millikelvin temperatures
- Lead cross-functional teams of physicists and software engineers
- Secure federal grants and industry partnerships for quantum computing initiatives
- Publish research in Nature Physics and IEEE journals
- Mentor junior researchers in quantum information theory
Qualifications
- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, or related field with quantum computing specialization
- 3+ years experience with quantum programming languages (Q#, Qiskit, or Cirq)
- Proficiency in cryogenic engineering and microwave pulse control systems
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications in quantum computing
- Expertise in quantum error correction codes and fault-tolerant architectures
- Experience with superconducting qubit fabrication and characterization
- Strong mathematical background in linear algebra and quantum mechanics
- Validated ability to secure NSF or DOE research funding
